IEE History
Industrial Electronic Engineers, Inc. (IEE) was established in 1946 for the purpose of designing and manufacturing automatic control systems and machinery utilizing telephone type switchgear and vacuum tube electronics as logic control elements. IEE was an early pioneer in this field now called automation. Extensive engineering development, manufacturing, installation and research were conducted to provide automatic scaling and control equipment, automatic conveyor control and electrical controls.
In 1956, a miniature rear projection display using a unique lens system and miniature incandescent light bulbs was manufactured to provide a value-added service to one of IEE’s control customers. There was such a demand for the product, IEE made the decision to move forward -- not in the control business, but in the display business.
Why Choose IEE for your Display Application?
Innovative Engineering
The IEE engineering group has the unique and diverse ability to address any display application challenge. Product offerings ranges from component level, to sub-assemblies, to full display sub-systems. IEE is also well-known for cockpit display upgrades, addressing Form, Fit, Function using both reverse-engineering of legacy system interfaces and technology upgrades.
IEE’s technical capabilities include:

Outstanding Manufacturing
IEE’s in-house control of key process steps is a competitive advantage, allowing for an agile and efficient reaction to rate production requirements. We specialize in medium to large production runs, and can also rapidly produce short-run and prototype builds to support customer requirements. IEE’s state-of-the-art facility is located in Sylmar, CA.
The IEE factory is vertically integrated around the display-specific manufacturing and test processes, and IEE has invested in the capital equipment to control these steps in-house. This includes thermal chambers and vibration tables for Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), automated and semi-automated functional test sets, dark-room and optical measuring equipment, sealing material fabrication, laser cutting, and bonding/lamination abilities. These along with advanced display technology enhancements in optical bonding provide options for customization that fit your specific display requirements.
Modular Open System Approaches (MOSA)
Today's complex military and aerospace system architectures are built on modern MOSA aligned products supporting modularity and the use of open interface standards. IEE’s modular approach allows for prolonged life-cycle support that spans from supply, through sustainment, and into technology insertion and refresh. IEE tracks critical technologies related to displays, including: display devices (LCD, OLED, MicroLED, etc.), image processing, video interface standards, general purpose processors, touch technologies, and others. IEE uses this extensive knowledgebase to guide our customers to future-proof solutions that are fit for use in the intended applications.
Commitment to Quality
IEE’s commitment to quality is supported through training, process management and control and quality audits. Our goal is for every task to be properly completed from start to finish with Zero Defects.
